Family Details:

Born about 1894 at Healeyfieled in the Parish of Castleside, Consett, Robley was the son of George Strong (from Penrith) and Mary (from Arkengarthdale). The 1901 Census shows that Robley had an older sister called Dorothy and a younger brother called George (see separate entry). The children were all born in Healeyfield. By 1911, Robley's parents were living in Boldron with Dorothy, George and another daughter called Hannah Elizabeth Soulbey and her son, George William Gordon. Robley was living on the farm where he was working.

Notes:

First served in France on 26 September 1915. Died and fell in action during the War whilst serving with D Battery, Royal Field Artillery, 18th Brigade.  He was killed by a shell that hit the cook house.

Robley's details can also be found on Boldron History World War 1.

[There is no doubting that this soldier's name was Robley. However, there is a separate entry on the database for a Robert Strong, also from Boldron. It is probable that these are the same person.]
