Notes:

Records for John show that he was born in 1880, however the CWGC entry for his grave puts his age at 45 years, suggesting that he was born in 1870. Nowhere does there appear to be a connection to the O'hara family as made on the church and town war memorials.

Eight months before his death John wrote a letter home saying 'I am proud of my battalion. I commenced my career with them as  a private soldier, and I have for the second time in service, through merit, attained the rank of Sergeant.'
