Brother of George William Croft, who served and was killed in action, and Walter Croft and Stanley Septimus Croft, both of whom served and survived (see separate entries in the database).

Parents: Tom Croft (born in Heslington, North Yorkshire in 1861; died November 1901) and Mary Croft (nee Abbott, born in 1863 in Hunmanby, Yorkshire).

Notes:

According to Ministry of Defense records, Thomas Francis enlisted into the London Rifle Brigade on 4 November 1914 and was posted to the 5th Battalion. He did overseas service with the Expeditionary Force, France, from 27 March 1915 until 6 May 1915. From 27 March 1915 he was posted to 1/5 Battalion then, from 25 June 1915, to 3/5 Battalion. He was discharged on 7 April 1916 because he ceased to fulfill Army medical requirements.
