Notes:

In a Pals Brigade with others from Evenwood and was one of three Evenwood men killed at the in the battle of Jutland out of the five that were there. See 'Evenwood's Heyday' available at the Bowes Museum. 

 

William Carrick enlisted on 7 September or October 1915.  He was killed in action 1 June 1916 serving aboard HMS Ardent. It wasn't until October that news was received that his body had been recovered of the coast of Norway and buried by the Norwegian Government at Farsund Cemetery, Norway. He is commemorated on the Evenwood War Memorial, the Roll of Honour, St. Paul’s Church, Evenwood and the Memorial Plaque in the Workmen’s Club.
