Col Percy Allsop killed in action, March 21st 1918

Family Details:

See notes below.

Notes:

There is some doubt about the spelling of Percy's name (Alsop, Allsop or Allsopp). A private individual provided information under the spelling Alsop. Ancestry includes records with matching details under the spellings Allsop and Allsopp. Going by the Ancestry records, it would appear that Percy was born Allsop (Civil Registration Birth Index and the 1901 and 1911 Census records) but his name was changed to, or misspelt, Allsopp in his Army records (Army Register of Soldier's Effects and Grave Registration records).

The birth of a Percy Allsop was registered in the District of Darlington in the second quarter of 1897. The 1901 Census shows a Percy Allsop, aged 4 and born in Denton Grange, living in Denton with his father William, from Reeth, and mother Elizabeth, from Cockfield. By the 1911 Census the family were in Dalton, West Layton.  Percy's siblings included Sarah J, Elizabeth, Walter, Arthur, Betress and Susan. A one-year-old granddaughter, Nora, was living with the family in 1911.

Percy left £10-15s-4p to his father William.

Some of the information above was originally included in the database entry for Percy Alsop who has a different date of death so the two entries have been separated out. See separate entry for Percy Alsop
