James enlisted on 20.11.1915 and served in France. Wounded

 

Startforth Roll of Honour - "Died and Fell in Action'. But he received the Victory Medal, which suggests that he survived, and he is not included in the local publications that include detailed research into the lives of the fallen of Boldron and Startforth.
