Family Details:

George was the son of William and Jane Vipond, of Middleton-in-Teesdale. He was married to Margaret Annie Vipond and together they had two children, Ralph and Nora.

Notes:

The 1911 census shows George farming at Charlbury, Oxfordshire. At some later point he appears living in Illinois and from there he enlisted with the Canadian Mounted Rifles in 1917.

His enlistment records in Canada suggest that he had previously served with the Oxfordshire Hussars for three years. He travelled to France, serving with the 38th Battalion Canadian Infantry.
