Reports say that Frederick was trying to help his fellow comrades when he fell in action. He was described as being a 'brave and fearless soldier'.

Family Details:

Son of George and Jane Urquhart of Bridge End, Startforth. 

Notes:

Frederick had been a page boy in 1891 and later served in the Royal navy for 20 years. The report given to the mercury by his brother at the time of his death describe his rank as being a Quartermaster Sergeant serving in the Royal Engineers.
