David was the son of Francis & Ruth Storey of Duke Street, Staindrop. His father Francis was a grocer & general dealer in Duke Street. His brother Herbert (see separate entry on the database) served with the Northumberland Fusiliers and was wounded in both legs in 1917. Another brother lived at Wool House Farm.
David joined the 16th Battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps in February 1915 & served in France & Flanders. David was reported missing on 23rd April, 1917 aged 26 & is remembered on the Arras Memorial.
