Percival Cade Stephenson was born in 1895 to Thomas and Phyllis (also spelt Phillis in some records) Emily Stephenson. By 1911, he had 7 bothers and sisters: Arthur (1886), Etta (1888), Henry (1889), Jonathan (1892), Thomas William (1894)[see separate entry], Emily Lydia (1898) and Harold (1899).

Percival attested on 9.12.1915 at the age of 21 years and 161 days and joinded the Army Reserve. He was mobilised on 5.10.1915 and posted the next day to the 4th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. On 23.12.1916, he transferred to the 12th Battalion, D.L.I and was posted to France. He disembarked on 25.12.1916 and was sent to the Field on 30.1.1917. On 7.6.1917, at the Battle of Messines, he suffered a gunshot wound to his right knee. He was treated at the No 2 Casualty Clearing Station followed by the No 16 General Hospital. On 4.9.1917, he transferred to the 58th Company, Labour Corps and was assigned the Regimental Number 384790. 


Percival was killed in Action on 28.3.1918.
