Notes:

Writing to his parents in 1915 he says "I received your parcel alright, but don't send any more soap.I have got as much as I can carry" and "Would you please send me the Barney paper - I will repay you when I return, two-fold." 

Date of death given at 19 March 1916 on the GWGC website. The Bowes Museum Roll of Honour gives it as 1 March 1916. Regiment given as 1/5th and 1/6th on the CWGC website. St Mary's research says 1/6th. No record of his death has been found in the Teesdale Mercury.
