The strain of duty had seen Wilfrid confined to his bed with a serious illness for two months before his death. He died at home in Nottingham.
His remains were interred with military honours in the roman catholic cemetery in Barnard Castle.

Youngest son of Benjamin and Jane Hepworth of Spring Grove, Barnard Castle. He had two sisters, one being Agnes Hepworth.
Husband of Winifred Hepworth of Hyson Green, Nottinghamshire and father of two daughters.
Wilfrid had worked as a doctor in Nottingham for 18 years and was held in very high esteem. He joined the RAMC in 1916 and was made Captain a year later. The strain of duty had seen him confined to bed for two months before his death.
