Sig. A Fawcett was killed in action, October 17th - aged 20
Arthur was the son of John & Eva Fawcett of Roslyn Street, Darlington. His parents had lived in Main Street, Staindrop & his father was Clerk of Works for Raby Estate. He had two brothers who also served but both survived the war.
Arthur was educated at Barnard Castle School and there is a memorial to him in the school chapel. He worked as an Analytical Chemist in Newcastle. He served in the 7th East Yorkshire Regiment. Arthur was killed in action near Neuvilly, France on 17th October, 1918 aged 19 & is buried in the Selridge British Cemetery at Montay.
