He was the brother of Robert Henry Bainbridge, and son of Thomas and Sarah Bainbridge of 9 Hude Terrace, Middleton-in-Teesdale.
Visited Middleton on leave from the home front, mentioned in Teesdale Mercury's Upper Dale notes, 1st March 1916. Described as being 'Well known and held in high esteem in Middleton'.
