Died in Hospital in Mont Notre Dame after a shattering gun shot wound to the shoulder on 17th July 1918 aged 21.
Joined the army as a Bugler in 1914.
It was reported in theTeesdale Mercury on 7th August 1918 that Frederick was wounded and being held prisoner of war in Germany. He was initially buried Mont-Notre-Damebut was reburied at Vailly in 1922.
